When I took watercolor painting classes, I was always taught to use 3 shades of a color for a tree, for example, but never how to mix colors to get those 3 shades. It was always " buy the light, the medium, and the dark of a color" and just paint! Thank you, Shibasaki-san for showing this old man how to do it properly! Bless you Sir!
I just got time to see this wonderful video! What a real treat it was! I know it is a lot of hard work to translate it into English but your efforts are greatly appreciated! I was only expecting to see you mixing colors on test paper. I was so excited when you did a painting and showed how mixing the different colors produce so many different shades of green! If it's not too much trouble would you please do this with other colors. Showing how mixing other colors adds so much more depth. For example sky colors, and shadow colors! Your teaching style is the best that I have ever seen! Marvin
Thanks Sensei. I tried to paint following you at the same time. It was a real pleasure to express my feelings with yours indications. You have the power to put out the best part of the person's artistic expression. At least in my concerning. Thanks, best for you.
Thanks Shibasaki san, for a fantastic, tutorial on how to mix and use more realistic greens for landscape paintings. Another great watercolour painting too. You are a very highly skilled and talented artist, we are very fortunate to be able to access your teaching methods and techniques.
Thank you, Sir, your greens look succulent and delicious! Beautiful art, I love the light and shadow you show, it gives so much depth and makes it distinguished.
Mr. Shibasaki, i like how you make it look so simple and loose. I am having a hard time painting in a loose style from a photo reference. I tend to do very detailed painting which takes me hours and hours. Thank you for this video!
This lesson is very inspirational! I struggle to get harmony in colours a lot. I will try this limited salad dressing… i mean, limited color palette exercise, sensei!
I'm very impressed with the way you used 6 colours to make a stunning drawing. And it is basically just greens... You never fail to please, sir. Thank you 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Thank you Shibasaki! The portion with the painting of foreground and background helped a lot, using the right color and intensity of color is a continuing struggle and you make it look so easy =)
That is great! It looks not so complicated I thought before :) I used to be afraid of mixing colours. But now I can see that having olny six colours you can paint such an interesting lanscape. Thank you for explaining the secrets of art.
Dear Sir, Marvelous painting. Your paintings gives a sense of inspiration and most of the time I feel I am standing in the middle of your art and enjoying the nature. Today's lesson was extremely helpful & informative. It would also help & benefit others on how to avoid mixing of colors which creates a muddy or dirty colors. Thank you very much for this great lesson.
I 100% agree with Ashis Kumar Sarkar ...Your teaching of art is subliem ..I am so happy I have found your video's on RUclips. They will help me a lot in my painting work. I know now what errors I had made in my own water color paintings. You had become teacher for many pupils all over the world. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Thank you again. This is very helpful! As a beginner I find mixing colors to be very challenging and intimidating. I always seem to end up with brown! You truly are a blessing.
Yes, mixing colors is a challenge for me too. Yellow Ochre is the "least" used color in my palette. It is such a muddy color but now I know to mix it with blues to get my greens. This tutorial is very helpful.
I just came back to practice with this video, after you mentioned it in one of your recent lessons. It’s very helpful; thank you for sharing your knowledge! 😊
Thank you so so so much for this video! it will change the way I choose my green forever !! I m beginner and I usually just choose the same of green all the time
Very, very nice Mr. Shibasaki. I'm just now starting to learn the basics of watercoloring. I've found your teaching to be just what i need. You are my primary teacher. Thank you.
Celty Sturlusson There will always be dissenters but Shibasaki-san through his gentle teaching of his amazing technique will prevail. I thank you for your thoughtful comment.
Namaste Guru. :) you are not only teaching with passion but with some kind of closeness. allthough I dont know japanese the tone of voice is like an elderbrother. i bow to you sir
Very instructive demonstration of mixing of greens of different shades and depth, comparison with salad dressings drives home point so well. Based in the UK we see greens only a few months of the year, so going to try painting green outdoors before winter descends...!!! Thanks for upload....!!
Sir your teaching is very helpful to beginners like us. Sir can you please make seperate videos for other colors? just like greens, there are other secondary colors which are important for painting also. It will be very helpful to us. Thank you very much.
Coincidentally I was making a salad ( of shredded onion, tomato, avocado and mozzarella cheese with salt, pepper and vinegar ) when I started watching this video. (I’m writing this comment after eating it. ) Thank you for the wonderful tutorial, Sensei ! 😊
This is a real demo from a master art teacher! Thanks you for making the watercolours less intimidating and a joy to work with.
It is always so nice to see your smiling face
Its his Gift.
I spend whole Sunday watching ur videos Sir, I think that was the best decision of my weekend

Knowing which color to use and mix is so important. Thank you for explaining the intricacies of water color.
Thank you, Sir, your greens look succulent and delicious! Beautiful art, I love the light and shadow you show, it gives so much depth and makes it distinguished.

I LOVED this video! That you painted a scene actually showing which mixes you used was simply awesome. Thank you!

I'm very new to watercolours and I'm really finding your tutorials very helpful. Your voice is so soothing. Thank you so much from Australia
I was struggling with greens and use then in perspective. This video gave me a great idea of using greens. Thank u for sharing your idead
That is great! It looks not so complicated I thought before :) I used to be afraid of mixing colours. But now I can see that having olny six colours you can paint such an interesting lanscape. Thank you for explaining the secrets of art.
I loved the analogy of cooking food. I love variety in food, yet will use the same greens. I shall change that. Thank you.
Green is my favorite color! Thank you so much for not only sharing the palette, but a beautiful demonstration as well! Your videos are the best

Very useful gradient of green, very helpful thank u, beautiful painting
I just came back to practice with this video, after you mentioned it in one of your recent lessons. It’s very helpful; thank you for sharing your knowledge! 😊
Whenever I cook, I always think cooking is like painting😊.
I appreciate your comparison of watercolor to cooking. It helps me to understand. Thank you!

I love your way to paint.
Wow you're a master in making it easy to understand
makes me want to try landscape .
Thank you for this video. I was struggling with this concept of mixing greens. Thank you so much.
Thank you, it was very interesting to see how you mixed the different greens. I enjoyed the video.
